Stavern Fortress has a beautiful scenic setting and is steeped in history. If you’re afraid of ghosts you may want to think twice about visiting, though, as the ‘Grey Lady’ is said to walk the embankments and appear on the mountain side under the Lookout Point at full moon because no other than Peter Wessel Tordenskiold abandoned her.
